1994 Household-Based Person Trip Survey As prime contractor, we conducted a travel survey of 7,300 households in seven counties in Southeast Michigan, including the City of Detroit. This large-scale survey involved recruiting participating households as well as retrieving information via CATI (Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing) procedures. Households were recruited to complete detailed travel diaries, resulting in a one-day, 24-hour travel record for each household member over the age of 5. Our activities included producing: a detailed workplan; sampling plan; random-digit telephone numbers for the study area; pilot survey and pretest; final survey questionnaire; CATI programming; training guide and interviewer manual; press releases; geocoding of trip records; computer data files; and descriptive reports and executive summary.
