The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS)is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to children and adults with developmental disabilities. These disabilities include bur are not limited to: mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions.

Independent Review of Polices and Practices As part of this review, we conducted quantitative analyses of the CDER data base and provided statistical consulting in the development of a sampling plan for CDER record examination (based on Unique Code Identifiers, UCI); prepared CDER summary reports to allow site teams to review and compare CDER data; conducted data analyses of CDER data to compare CDER records between consumers living in the developmental centers and those living in the community; and conducted site visits to five locations in Southern California. Specific issues addressed included Coffelt expenses and reimbursements, effectiveness of the RC-RRDP-DC Model, Coffelt placements, and unmet consumer needs.
