Community Scan
We conducted a "community scan" to support the City Council's third strategic plan. The Scan was designed to "take the pulse" of the City's many residents, community, business and governmental segments, and lay the groundwork for the City Council and Mayor to reach consensus on what the key issues were to be addressed by the City's next planning effort. We conducted: interviews with council members, city committees, and the mayor; small group meetings with community-based organizations; a telephone survey of a random sample of 900 households; a separate telephone survey targeted to teenagers; community intercept interviews with Asian language speakers; a mail survey (with telephone follow up) to a sample of 900 businesses; and, interviews with business leaders -- all of which culminated in a city-wide forum to discuss the results of the data collection effort.
