Household Travel Survey and Model Update
Under contract to WFRC, we conducted an origin-destination survey of households in Salt Lake, Ogden and the Provo/Orem areas. This project involved the recruitment of 7,500 households, resulting in the collection of travel information and household characteristics from 3,000 households. The procedures included a random telephone contact in which the households were recruited. Following recruitment, the households received a diary for each member of the household age five or older, and a household form. The households then completed the diaries during a 24-hour period on an assigned weekday, and mailed the completed forms back to us. We corrected and edited the survey instruments before the data was keypunched. Collection of these data enabled WFRC to recalibrate and update their models.
