Evaluation of the Fremont Youth Collaborative
Under subcontract to the Evaluation and Training Institute, we analyzed data from student, teacher and parent surveys collected for the evaluation of the Fremont Youth Collaborative (FYC) – a five-year effort to coordinate and enhance youth development opportunities in Los Angeles’ South Central community funded by the Weingart Foundation. The FYC’s five major service agencies –the Boys Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs, LAPD, Salvation Army, and the YMCA – are committed to strengthening youth by providing positive, productive after-school and weekend activities for over 10,000 K-12 students in LAUSD’s Fremont cluster. The evaluation documented the Collaborative’s impact on students’ cultural awareness, character development, academic motivation and performance, and relationships with peers and adults.
