Projects:

Consumer Awareness Trial and Usage Study
Beginning in 1995, we have been contracted by STAR System, Inc. to conduct their annual Awareness Trial and Usage (ATU) Study. The purposes of the yearly studies are to measure consumer awareness of the STAR System logo and market penetration of advertising among consumers residing in larger predominantly urban counties. The studies also identify the level of customer utilization of ATM (automated teller machine) and POS (point of sale) services, and provide strategic recommendations for marketing the STAR System in the coming year. In addition, the studies probed consumers for their reaction to the availability of new technological services, such as home banking, electronic check transactions, and usage of a self-service banking terminal, as well as the importance of security in these new transaction methods. Findings based on the studies are documented in a final report used to enhance consumer services, and market segmentation data provides insight on advertising and promotional strategies. More than 13,300 telephone interviews are conducted each year to obtain the data. The studies include consumers from 35 states across the country plus consumers from the District of Columbia.

Membership Study
AMPG was contracted by STAR Systems to conduct an annual attitude, usage, and satisfaction study with its member financial institutions and direct-connect processors. The purpose of the study is to continually monitor changes among member institutions with regard to STAR and competitive ATM electronic payment systems. Results of the survey are used in conjunction with other measures to track the positioning of STAR in the ATM/electronic payment market and to obtain information to develop communications and marketing strategies. The study included financial institutions across the Western and Eastern United States.
